Synopsis

Four award-winning Thai filmmakers offer their vision of a dystopian future.

In this portmanteau film by four Thai directors, audience are taken on an adventure to Thailand — ten years into the future. Each chapter in the film is a journey into the director’s imagination, presenting different futuristic visions ranging from black-and-white drama to neon-bathed sci-fi.

Aditya Assarat’s Sunset offers an emotionally-rich black-and-white film set in a small art gallery. The tone shifts in the second short film, Catopia, which sees director Wisit Sasanatieng back in top absurdist form. 2010 Palme d’Or winner Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past) treads between past and present; while young filmmaker Chulayarnnon Siriphol turns up the notch in Planetarium, a dystopian neon-lit future led by a matriarch dressed head-to-toe in pink.

A compelling omnibus film that considers the very workings of Thai society from four different angles… — Kong Rithdee, Bangkok Post
